Monomoy Regional School District names Christie Cutone as new Harwich Elementary School principal

Christie CutoneJuly 14, 2022 -- Monomoy Regional School District has named Christie Cutone, Ed.D. to be the next principal of Harwich Elementary School, following the departure of Principal Mary Oldach.

A hiring committee composed of more than 20 teachers, parents, support staff, community members, and administrators interviewed six strong candidates for the HES principal position.

Following those interviews, there was a clear and decisive consensus among the members of the hiring committee for Dr. Cutone’s candidacy. The hiring committee unanimously rated her as a principal they could see being successful in the role at HES. She was also overwhelmingly ranked as the top candidate with the strongest skill set. After completing extensive reference checks, Monomoy Superintendent Dr. Scott Carpenter extended an offer to her, which she accepted.

Dr. Cutone has extensive experience as a classroom teacher, special educator, and building administrator, most recently as the Principal of Claypit Hill School in Wayland for the past seven years. She has also served as an assistant principal in Newton, learning disabilities specialist in Chelmsford, and elementary teacher in North Carolina. She holds a masters degree in education and a doctorate in education.

“When reviewing the feedback from the hiring committee, Christie was the clear top choice of our teachers and staff, parents, administrators, and community members. She brings a wealth of administrative and classroom experience, as well as a kind and compassionate approach to leadership,” said Carpenter. “I am confident she will work well mentoring and collaborating with new HES Assistant Principal Allyson Joy. Her focus on building and strengthening relationships will be an asset, along with her student-centered approach to education.”

Dr. Cutone will formally begin her new position later this summer.
