Chatham Elementary School celebrates publication of librarian Jenna Grodzicki’s latest book

CES librarian Jenna Grodzicki celebrates book publicationCES librarian Jenna Grodzicki with some of the books she's writtenCES librarian Jenna Grodzicki's latest book, The Story of Babe RuthOctober 6, 2021 -- Students and staff at Chatham Elementary School gathered to celebrate a very special “book birthday,” as the school’s Library/Media Specialist, Jenna Grodzicki, recently published her 14th children’s book. Her latest release, titled “The Story of Babe Ruth,” is part of the juvenile nonfiction series called The Story Of: A Biography Series for New Readers from Rockridge Press. She has also written a biography of Princess Diana for that same series.

Grodzicki has written 19 published or soon to be published children’s books, both fiction and nonfiction. Other titles include “Harmony Humbolt: The Perfect Pets Queen'' and “I See Sea Food: Sea Creatures That Look Like Food.” She joined Chatham Elementary School this year as the school’s librarian and media specialist. She has also previously taught Kindergarten, first grade, and third grade.

“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher,” said Grodzicki. “When I moved from third grade to first grade, I rediscovered my love of picture books. My favorite part of the day was reading to my students and introducing them to incredible authors. I realized I had a new dream – to be a picture book author. Now, many years later, I feel so fortunate that I get to be both!”

Chatham Elementary School students attended a special assembly to celebrate the publication of Grodzicki’s latest book, and learn more about writing and publishing. She shared with students her writing process, how books are edited and illustrated, and reminded students that they are already writers themselves.

“I love talking about my writing process with children,” added Grodzicki. “It helps to get them excited about reading and writing. My hope is that they will start to see themselves as writers, too.”

“We are thrilled that Mrs. Grodzicki joined the staff at CES,” said Principal Jennifer Kelly. “Her love of books and writing is contagious! I am confident that her example will inspire our students to not only read and write, but to also pursue their dreams.”

Copies of Grodzicki’s books will be available in all Chatham Elementary School classrooms for students to read, as well as in the school library. Grodzicki lives in Chatham with her husband and two children, who attend Monomoy schools.
