Teacher David Alexander named Monomoy Regional High School’s new Assistant Principal

Following an extensive search, Monomoy Regional High School teacher David Alexander has been named the school’s new Assistant Principal. This follows the promotion of former MRHS Assistant Principal Jennifer Police to the position of Principal and the retirement of Assistant Principal Janie Girolamo.

A search committee of eight people has worked over the past month to select the new Assistant Principal to add to the MRHS team. The committee was composed of parents, faculty, staff, students, and administrators who narrowed down a pool of 54 applicants to six candidates. After a very thorough search and interview process, the committee overwhelmingly agreed to put Alexander forward as the finalist for the position.

“Anyone who has worked with David knows that his commitment to our school and district is truly exceptional,” said MRHS Principal Jennifer Police. “He has served on nearly every committee since the school's inception and has held critical roles in the development of our most important programs. David has been an incredible instructional leader over the past four years and has brought innovative and creative pathways to our program of studies.”

In addition to his teaching duties, Alexander has been the Social Studies Department Head at MRHS, and the coordinator of the school’s successful internship program, which connects students with real-life work experience at local businesses. He has been a teacher for 26 years, the past 20 of them with Chatham/Monomoy.
