Monomoy Regional High School receives honors for AP access from College Board

Monomoy Regional High School has recently received numerous honors from the College Board for its excellence in educating students and providing all students with access to advanced coursework.

Monomoy Regional High School has earned a place on the College Board's AP School Honor Roll for the 2023-2024 school year, meeting the criteria for Gold Status. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success, with criteria including College Culture, College Credit, and College Optimization. Monomoy achieved Gold Status for College Culture and College Credit and Platinum Status for College Optimization.

“These accomplishments would not be possible without the support of administration and our highly dedicated and talented instructors.” said Jonathan Bennett, Monomoy Regional High School Counselor and AP Coordinator. “Special accolades go to our students, who challenged themselves with the most rigorous coursework available to them at MRHS. Way to go Team AP!”

MRHS is being further recognized with the AP Access Award, which honors schools that encourage more low-income and underrepresented minority students to take AP courses. In the letter announcing this recognition,Trevor Packer, College Board Senior Vice President, AP and Instruction, wrote, “Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely
to attend college and graduate on time. And even for those who don't earn college credit, advanced coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture. We know it takes a considerable school wide effort – dedication from teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and parents – to make AP access a priority.
I'm inspired by your commitment and grateful for the chance to honor your success.”

“I’m incredibly proud of our continued commitment to prioritizing access to rigorous and higher-level learning opportunities for all of our students,” said Monomoy High Principal Jennifer Police. “It is quite impressive that 80% of our senior class has experienced at least one AP course during their high school journey. This honor from the College Board recognizes and celebrates that commitment.”
