Monomoy Business Manager Michael MacMillan named district’s Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Strategic Alignment

Monomoy Business Manager Michael MacMillan named district’s Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Strategic Alignment

As part of a reorganization of Monomoy Regional School District's Central Office, current Business Manager Michael MacMillan has been named as the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Strategic Alignment by the Monomoy Regional School Committee. This new role was developed in conjunction with the reduction of one Central Office administrator position to increase efficiency, recognize expanded duties and responsibilities, and address a decline in enrollment.

The position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment will be phased out, with those duties reallocated among the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Strategic Alignment, the Superintendent, and the Directors of Curriculum. The Directors of Curriculum will transition to year-round positions to accommodate these expanded responsibilities.

“Michael has been an incredible asset to our team over the past five years,” said Superintendent Scott Carpenter, Ed.D., “and this update to his title and responsibilities is recognition of his tremendous skills and insight. This expansion of duties will better allow Michael to connect our use of resources to student outcomes.”

As Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Strategic Alignment, MacMillan’s duties will now include grant management, EL and Title coordination, academic return on investment, and more, while also maintaining oversight for the district’s financial operations. In short, this position will help to ensure that the district’s resources are being used effectively to positively impact student outcomes.

“As we plan for the upcoming transition when I assume the role of Superintendent, we have worked thoughtfully with the School Committee to maximize efficiencies while addressing changes in enrollment,” said Robin Millen, Ed.D., current Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and incoming Superintendent. “This realignment will allow Monomoy to continue offering excellent educational opportunities while also being mindful of changing demographics and fiscal responsibility. We are the stewards of trust from our families, our students, our educators, and our communities, and we are confident these changes will position us to expand on the impressive success we have achieved over the past decade.”
