Collaboration with Children’s Cove Brings Awareness to Community

Monomoy High Students Educate Peers on Child Sexual Abuse Issues

Monomoy Childrens Cove Teen TaskForce

Monomoy Regional High School and Children’s Cove recently held the sixth and final session with the Monomoy High School Teen TASK (Taking A Stand for Kids) Force. Children’s Cove is the Cape and Islands Child Advocacy Center, a department of Barnstable County, and the group of eight sophomores making up the TASK Force worked together to learn about and raise awareness of child sexual abuse issues on Cape Cod, as well as the programs and services Children’s Cove provide to victims.

This is the third year Monomoy Regional High School has partnered with Children’s Cove for the Teen TASK Force, which met throughout the school year to learn about the issues of child sexual abuse in the region. Students learned how cases are responded to and how they can advocate for peers seeking support.

Students started six monthly sessions in December, and over the course of the program met with Children’s Cove staff, toured their facility, and heard from community partners including the Harwich Police Department and Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office. In addition to learning about the issues and processes addressed by Children’s Cove, Teen TASK Force members were tasked with developing their own community awareness project.

This May, TASK Force students spent a day at Monomoy Middle School engaging with students and presenting in four health classes, talking about online and in-person safety as well as healthy relationships. They also facilitated interactive lunch table activities during the middle schoolers’’ lunch periods, where students lined up to participate in Q&A discussions and engage with the high school leaders.

“This program has been fantastic,” said Lindsay Ginnetty, School Counselor at Monomoy Regional High School. “The way the TASK Force members engaged with the middle school students, talking about some really important issues, I couldn’t be prouder of them. They did a wonderful job.”

Members of the 2025-2026 Monomoy Teen TASK Force included Ava Pina, Daejah Williams, Maddy Swett, Payten Rogovich, Davion Dawkins, Paige Meyer, Kaitlyn Robertson, and Layla Braman.
