Project Updates

October 2016 Update

We hope you will show your “Shark Pride” by supporting the construction of our All Sports Boosters concession stand at the Monomoy Regional High School stadium field. This is a project that will benefit our entire community. The stadium is not only used by our Monomoy teams, but also youth sports programs from across the Cape. The addition of a concession stand and restroom facility will provide much needed amenities for those who come to watch field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track & field, cheerleading and football events. Sales of food at the concession stand, which will be managed by Monomoy’s All Sports Boosters program, will produce a sustainable revenue source that will support all Monomoy athletics teams, including those competing in venues other than our stadium field (like baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis).

To complete our All Sports Boosters concession stand, we need community partners like you.  The materials to construct the building have been purchased solely by financial donations from individuals and organizations throughout our towns. The structure has been built entirely by volunteers, donating their skills and time. We need your support to make further progress on this project.

When finished, the building will include a kitchenette with sinks, refrigeration, and a covered food service area. The kitchenette will have the ability to warm food, and an outdoor gas grill will be used to cook items like hamburgers. The restroom facilities will include six womens’ stalls, four mens’ stalls, plus a single stall family bathroom. Within the building, there will also be some storage for athletic equipment.

Through the Monomoy Regional High School construction project, a slab with plumbing and electrical hook-ups was laid in place. Mount Vernon Group Architects generously donated their time and expertise to develop complete plans and an artistic rendering of the building. We are grateful for our many volunteers and community donors who have already given towards this project, and we still need your help. Financial donations or contributions of products and services that could be auctioned by the All Sports Boosters are urgently needed in order to purchase materials to complete this project before the Spring 2017 athletic season. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Both volunteers and financial benefactors will be recognized on a plaque to be affixed to the completed building, based on the level of their contribution. Donations can be sent to:

If you have questions about your tax-deductible donation or the All Sports Boosters, please contact Barbara Susko at the Monomoy Regional Central Office at 508-945-5130.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools and our athletic programs.

Spring 2016 Update

Monomoy Regional High School Concession Stand Building Project
Show your Shark Pride by supporting Monomoy Regional’s construction of a concession stand and restroom facility at the high school’s stadium field.

This facility will benefit the entire Monomoy community, whether you have or cheer for an athlete in our town youth sports programs or in a Monomoy athletic program. Your field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track & field and football athlete will benefit from the addition of a concession stand and restroom facility at our stadium field, and our spectators will have a much improved game experience. The project will include a kitchenette with sinks and refrigeration, a covered food service area, a six-stall women’s restroom, a four-stall men’s restroom, plus a single-stall unisex family bathroom. There will also be a storage area to house some athletic equipment.

The school hopes to construct the facility over the summer to have it ready for fall sports at the Monomoy Stadium. To begin construction, the project will need to raise at least an additional $10,000 in funds to purchase the materials needed for framing, roofing and walls. This fundraising project will kick off on Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m. in a community-wide effort to secure the needed funds to begin the build.  At the event, there will be a barbecue, where you can purchase dinner, while also enjoying two back-to-back lacrosse games on our stadium field.  Our Monomoy Girls Lax (coop team with Cape Tech) will be playing their first game on our home field against Mashpee, followed by our Monomoy Boys Lax team playing Middleboro at 7 p.m.  In between the two games (at 6:30 p.m.), we will be holding an auction.  Included in the auction will be one-of-a-kind Harwich and Chatham memorabilia, including the Rough Rider weathervane that once stood atop Harwich High School as well as the former Chatham High School sign.

Through the Monomoy Regional High School construction project, a full slab with plumbing and electrical hook-ups has already been laid in place. Mount Vernon Group Architects have generously donated their time and expertise to develop complete and stamped plans for this build. As a community, we now need to raise the funds for materials and secure volunteer labor to construct the building atop of the slab.

Donations can be made to Monomoy Regional High School Concession Project. Donations are tax-deductible. If you would like assistance with your donation, please contact Sue Held in the Monomoy Regional Business Office at (508) 945-5130. Please mail donations to: Monomoy Regional School District, c/o Concession Project Donation, 425 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA 02633

Skilled tradesmen in construction, plumbing and electrical work will be needed, along with community members willing to lend a hand with this build. Volunteers willing to donate their time and labor should contact Monomoy Regional Building Committee Co-chair Ed McManus at (508) 527-7620.

The Monomoy Regional School Committee would like to thank our founding community contributors:

The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and the Harwich Cranberry Festival.

The construction of the concession stand/restroom facility is intended to be a “community build,” funded by businesses and families within our community and constructed by volunteers. To bring this project to completion both financial support and donations of labor to construct the building will be needed. Both volunteers and financial benefactors will be recognized on a plaque to be affixed to the completed building, based on the level of their contribution:

Great White – contribution of $5,000 or more OR volunteering 40 or more hours of labor

Mako – contribution of $1000 OR volunteering 20 hours of labor

Hammerhead – contribution of $500 OR volunteering 10 hours of labor

Blue – contributions of $250 and over
