Equity Audit

September 2025 Update:
Due to changes in federal funding, work on this project was paused in Spring 2025. Partial funding was reinstated in August 2025 and MAEC selected Monomoy to continue with the equity audit process. This Equity Audit is being covered by a grant with funding that expires on September 30, 2025, so this process will now be done on a accelerated timeline through the month of September.
Timeline:
September 15, 2025: Surveys sent to both families and staff, to be completed by September 26, 2025
September 19, 2025: Students in Grades 4-12 will be able to take age-appropriate surveys during the first 15 minutes of the school day
September 20, 2025: Building-based teams will gather to develop consensus on the equity audit tool feedback
September 26, 2025: Family and staff surveys close
September 30, 2025: All data will be submitted to MAEC for review and analysis
To support belonging and engagement throughout the district, Monomoy Regional School District is undertaking an equity audit in 2025. Monomoy places students at the center of an educational partnership with caregivers and the community to create a welcoming and innovative learning environment that builds relationships, encourages curiosity, and elevates all students to achieve their full potential.
The Monomoy Regional School Committee included support of a district-wide equity audit in its goals for the 2024-2025 school year.
The equity audit, which will solicit feedback from faculty, students, parents and caregivers, and community members on school culture and leadership, will be conducted in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium (MAEC) through the Center for Education Equity (CEE), the Region 1 Equity Assistance Center. The audit will include all of the Monomoy Regional School District schools. MAEC, which has collaborated with school districts and organizations nationwide – including Falmouth Public Schools and Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools in recent years – brings extensive experience to support Monomoy Regional School District in this equity audit.
The process will provide an opportunity to evaluate and celebrate areas of strength as well as identify areas of needed growth.
This project will be largely funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Region 1 Equity Assistance Center, resulting in very little direct costs for the school district.
