How to Translate Online Content Using Web Browser

Google Chrome

  1. To translate an email, survey, or webpage, please use Google Chrome as your web browser.
  2. Open the item you wish to translate.
  3. Right-click anywhere on the page.
  4. Select "Translate to..." from the menu that appears.
  5. A translation box will appear in the top-right corner of your screen.
  6. To change the language, click the three vertical dots (⋮) in that box and select "Choose another language."
  7. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu and click Translate.

Google Chrome (Mobile - iOS/Android)

  1. On mobile, the translation bar usually appears automatically, but you can also trigger it manually.
  2. Open the page or survey in the Chrome app.
  3. Tap the three dots (⋮ on Android; … on iOS).
  4. Scroll down and select Translate...
  5. A bar will appear at the top or bottom of the screen showing the current translation.
  6. To change the language, tap the Settings icon (gear) or the three dots within that translation bar.
  7. Select More Languages and choose your preferred language from the list.

Microsoft Edge (Desktop)

  1. Microsoft Edge uses "Microsoft Translate," which works very similarly to Chrome.
  2. Open the webpage or survey in Microsoft Edge.
  3. Right-click anywhere on the page.
  4. Select Translate to [Language] (it will often show your computer's default language).
  5. An icon will appear in the address bar at the top of the screen. Click this icon to open the translation menu.
  6. In the pop-up, click the Translate to dropdown menu to pick a different language.
  7. Click Translate to update the page.

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • Tip for Emails: > If you are using a web-based email (like Gmail or Outlook.com), these instructions will work perfectly. If you are using a desktop app (like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail), you may need to copy the text into a browser or use the "View in Browser" option to use these translation tools.
  • These steps may vary slightly depending on your browser version or recent updates. If the "Translate" option does not appear when you right-click, ensure you are using the most recent version of your browser.

Step 1: Clear your browser cookies.

This step is required to ensure the correct language displays. If cookies are not cleared, the site may default to English. Instructions are available here:  How to Clear your Cache - Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari - 2026.pdf
NOTE: If you change the language and later wish to return to English, you must clear your browser cookies again.

Step 2: Select your language.

On the Login screen, go to the top-right corner and select your preferred language from the menu.  We are in the process of adding more languages.  If you do not see your preferred language, please check back and/or reach out to help@monomoy.edu with your request.

  • Online Existing Student Contact Updates/Annual Permissions

Items that ARE NOT translated YET, but you can use your browser to translate most of these:

  • Course names
  • Elementary rubric definitions
  • Report card & progress report comments
  • Graduation progress/summary
  • IEP & 504 Plans
