Mr. Wyatt Sullivan - Grade 7 ELA
When I was in high school at Nauset, I was asked by my history teacher what I wanted to do when I grew up. I responded, "I want to help kids. Here, on Cape Cod." At the time, I had no idea how I was going to go about achieving this goal, but I knew that at my core, it was what I wanted to do. Seventeen years later I find myself here, at Monomoy with an opportunity to actualize my dream.
I attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I earned a Bachelor's degree in secondary education with a focus on history. While in Philadelphia, I had the opportunity to work with inner-city students. This was a formative time in my life, as I was able to learn about different cultures, religions, and beliefs that I would have never been exposed to had I not attended Temple. After teaching in Philadelphia, I then moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where I taught history and Latin. This was also a wonderful experience, as I was again exposed to different people, their cultures, and belief systems. But, try as I may, Cape Cod kept calling me home.
