To help both students and parents successfully transition to high school, the MRHS team has developed a number of activities to ensure that everyone is informed about routines, procedures, systems, and expectations for incoming 8th-graders.
2018 Schedule of Events
New Student Open House and Chromebook Distribution
Tuesday, August 28, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Students will be able to drop by Monomoy Regional High School on Tuesday, August 28, between 10 am and 12 noon to get ready for the first day of the new school year on September 4. Students can enjoy a school tour and get answers to any questions they may have about MRHS and the new school year. Students will be able to pick up their final schedule, agenda, locate their classrooms, access their lockers and collect important paperwork.
Parents and students can touch base with main office staff, administration and school counselors and receive information regarding clubs, activities, sports and everything else that Monomoy has to offer.
** Students will be able to collect their Chromebooks after a brief Technology orientation. Families must read and sign the MRHS Acceptable Use Policy before students receive their Chromebook.**
Parent “Meet and Greet” With 8th grade Assistant Principal and School Counselor
Wednesday, August 29, 6-7:30 p.m.
Another opportunity for parents designed to answer any questions regarding your student’s transition to high school. School tours will also be available. Schedules, Jawsome and other school-related matters will be discussed informally with 8th Grade Assistant Principal Mike Martin and School Counselor Alison Burton.
Town Hall Grade Level Meetings
First week of school (September 4-7) 12:07–12:37 p.m.
By grade level, all students meet with School Administration and Counselors to review High School policies and expectations.
Open House/Curriculum Night
Monday, September 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
A school-wide event for students in all grades, in which parents will follow their student’s schedule, meeting teachers, administration and school counselors.
8th Grade Parent Forum
Tuesday, November 27, 6-8 p.m.
An informal gathering with current 8th grade parents to discuss how your child is coping with the transition to high school life. Join Assistant Principal Mike Martin and 8th grade School Counselor Alison Burton for coffee, as we talk Aspen, grades, Jawsome, and other relevant issues. Please come and share your thoughts with us.
