Grade 8 Summer Reading
Teachers have recommended several books at each grade level to help students who may be looking for different texts to read. You can also reach out to your child’s current teacher to determine their “Lexile Score” which is a measurement of a student’s current reading comprehension level based on their most recent testing scores. This number will help you find additional books that are appropriately challenging for your child.
Here are the books teachers in Grade 8 recommend:
- Jaws by Peter Benchley
- Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
- The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown
- A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat
- Feeding Ghosts: A Graphic Memoir by Tessa Hulls
- Amari and the Night Brothers by B. B. Alston
- Apple (Skin to the Core) by Eric Gansworth
