Introductory Science of Reading I Professional Learning Series
Description: Science of Reading Flyer
Hosted by Hill Literacy Consultants. Introductory Science of Reading Professional Learning Series teaches critical components of literacy instruction for Primary or Intermediate Grades, integrating current research into each module and translating it into classroom application. The modules address questions such as:

What happens in the brain when we read? How can this understanding inform our instruction?

What are high-leverage instructional routines that support reading acquisition?

Digging Deeper into the Science of Reading Series
Description: Have you taken our virtual Introductory Science of Reading Professional Learning Series and want to keep learning? Sign up for our Digging Deeper into the Science of Reading Series—10 modules that dig in deeper to topics introduced in Modules 1-10 and address new areas, including spelling, morphology, and assessment.
Course Prerequisite: Completion of the 10-module Science of Reading series for Primary or Intermediate Grades.

Schoolwide Improvement Leadership Workshop Series
Description: Are you looking for a new approach to school improvement? An approach that brings together diverse perspectives? An approach that centers the experience of marginalized learners? The Universal Design for Learning School Implementation Criteria (UDL-SIC) provides a framework for systematically addressing complex problems of practice. Built on the foundation of the Universal Design for Learning, the UDL-SIC looks beyond just teaching and learning to examine the domains of school culture and environment, leadership & management, and professional learning. Join us to learn how the framework applies UDL in each of those domains and the necessary conditions to support the implementation of UDL in the classroom.

Safety and Health In and Outside the Classroom
Description: Health issues, whether occurring in the classroom or outside, affect student academic performance, mood and social interactions. Bullying, depression, social media addiction, and substance abuse can individually or collectively lead to academic failure and social stresses that greatly influence student wellness. MassArt partners with TAB to offer an intensive one week institute in July.
In addition to their Elementary and Middle & High School Cohorts, last year, they introduced a new Studio cohort group, which was open to past Institute attendees or teachers with at least five years of TAB classroom experience. The Studio cohort will focus on the creation and maintenance of the studio classroom and personal art-making. They will be responsible for creating and taking down the studio, as well as helping run the studio during open hours.
