Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department

The Monomoy Regional School District’s approach to curriculum, instruction, and assessment is centered on its mission to create an innovative learning environment that empowers every student to reach their full potential through a "Portrait of a Graduate" framework. The curriculum prioritizes interdisciplinary, real-life learning that focuses on "transfer goals"—ensuring students can apply their knowledge to novel situations. Instruction is characterized by a commitment to differentiation and culturally responsive teaching, utilizing evidencebased strategies to support diverse learning styles and foster global awareness. Assessment within the district serves as a data-driven tool for growth; it integrates state-mandated MCAS testing with local district and classroom based assessment to provide a holistic view of student growth and achievement. Collectively, these practices aim to develop independent, confident, creative and critical thinkers who are prepared for the complexities of college, career, and citizenship in a global community.
