To help both students and parents successfully transition to high school, the MRHS team has developed a number of activities to ensure that everyone is informed about routines, procedures, systems, and expectations for incoming 8th-graders.
Grade 8 Transition 2020
While MRHS is unable to host an in-person Step Up Day for our incoming 8th grade class, there are plenty of opportunities for students to familiarize themselves with the faces and experiences of MRHS. On Monday, June 8, all 7th grade students will be released from typical classes to attend a 100% Virtual Step Up Day.
Students will be added to a Google Classroom page containing all schedules and materials for Step Up Day, including several Google Meet links. In addition to live offerings, the Google Classroom will host a variety of asynchronous materials, including: virtual school tour, club and athletics sign-ups, videos from faculty, FAQs, and more. Students are encouraged to attend as many offerings as possible and to explore all Google Classroom materials throughout the day.
All parents and guardians are invited to attend a virtual Parent Night on Monday, June 8, from 6:00-7:00 PM via the online platform Zoom. The event will include discussions with incoming MRHS Principal Ms. Jen Police, Grade 8 Counselor Caitlyn Hall and counseling staff, 8th grade teachers, and student representatives. To join this Zoom, you can click here or use the following information: Meeting ID: 843 9843 2095 Password: 2025
To set up a time to review individual questions or concerns about the transition to MRHS, Grade 8 Counselor Caitlyn Hall is offering Google Meet office hours between 10 AM - 2 PM on Step Up Day. If interested, email Ms. Hall directly or sign up for an appointment on her appointment calendar for Monday, June 8.
