FOR POTENTIAL INSTRUCTORS -

Refunds are only given when a class does not have sufficient enrollment. This is a fee based program, with fees committed to your class once it starts. Requests for refunds must be received at least five business days before the start of a class or program. Otherwise we will not offer a refund. There will be a $5.00 processing fee per class for each refund. Please be sure to sign up for the classes you really want.

Course Notification: NO CONFIRMATION is sent. Please report to class for the first meeting unless you are notified otherwise.

In case of inclement weather please listen to: WOCN 104.1; WQRC 99.9 or WXTK 95.1 call the office at 508-430-2355. Classes held at the school do not meet on legal holidays or during school vacations. Please note the dates of classes.

Registration and Payment Procedures: FULL payment is required and must accompany the registration form. NO walk-ins on the first night of class. Telephone registration will not be taken. Course #100

               INTRODUCTION TO SPANISH         Cost: $60

MONDAYS   April 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23; June 6 (6 weeks)

7:00 to 8:00pm

The class will be for the beginners in Spanish, with little or no background in Spanish. We will begin with basic Spanish pronunciation and will learn a variety of common expressions. Students will be introduced to very basic grammar. Students will practice elementary conversation in the classroom as soon as they are familiar with the basics. We will discuss various cultural aspects of the Spanish speaking world.

                     BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY     Canceled

 

WEDNESDAYS April 27; May 4, 11, 18  (4 weeks)

6:00pm to 8:00pm

Technology changes quickly, but the principles of photography do not. Whether you have a DSLR, point & shoot digital, film camera or smart phone this course can help you improve your photos and help you achieve the images you want to make. The course will cover composition, aperture, and other basic photography techniques. This class is not about pushing buttons, it is about making photographs. There will be fun homework assignments each week. Please bring your camera and all accessories to the first week.  Instructor: Amy C. Davies, award winning photographer and video-producer

 The Mexican cooking class will introduce a variety of Mexican ingredients and will learn Spanish terms for ingredients and basic phrases for restaurant communication. Each week a new recipe will be introduced and the class will sample the cuisine. Vamos a comer! COST INCLUDES SUPPLIES!

                 NEWS AND THE DIGITAL CONVERGENCE WORLD

          -Television, the radio, online and newspapers. They’re all sources of news and information. But what is news? How does “news become news?” Over the next several weeks, you’ll learn how to identify, gather, report and produce news over several formats.

          -The news business is one of the most rapidly changing industries. The era of the morning newspaper and the evening network newscast as the nation’s primary source of information is long gone. We live and work in a convergence society and industry where news races across multiple platforms simultaneously. 

           -And while the way in which news is delivered and consumed constantly evolves, the basic standards of solid journalism remain in place. Since the fall of Troy, poets have recorded our conflicts – great & small. This class would survey the poetry of war from ancient days to the present, and would include dramatic readings by actors & poet/veterans of historical & contemporaneous work Instructor: Neil Silberblatt is an award winning author, founder & Director of Voices of Poetry

                   BE THE HERO OF YOUR OWN STORY             Canceled

THURSDAYS   April 28; May 5, 12, 19, 26; June 2 (6 weeks)

Beginning in ancient times to the present, authors have followed a story formula now known as the hero’s journey. Through the study of fantasy and science fiction stories, students will learn how to write their own hero’s journey. Instructor: Katherine Becrelis is an Middle and High School Teacher at Trinity Christian Academy of Cape Cod.
